The insurance company was founded in 1840 as "Mobiliar-Brand-Versicherungs-Gesellschaft in Greifswald ". From 1873 it extended to Pomerania , Brandenburg and the two Mecklenburg Grand Duchies.
From 1884 the company was called "Insurance Company zu Greifswald", from 1903 it was called "Hagel and Fire Insurance Company on Mutuality in Greifswald" and from 1920 onwards "Agricultural Insurance Company on Mutuality in Greifswald".
