The Lang Bräu is a beer brewery in Freyung , Lower Bavaria , a town in the Freyung-Grafenau district . In 2008, the brewery had an annual production of 25,000 hectoliters, and it also includes a brewery bar with a larger dining area.

history

In 1813, the then master brewer of the Marktbräuhaus, Johann Reichenberger, was granted a brewing license for the current location. On April 28, 1857, Andreas Lang bought the brewery by auction.

After the brewery burned down completely in 1872, it was rebuilt with the help of the Innstadt brewery (Passau), Lang Bräu (Jandelsbrunn) and Ratzesbergerbräu (Waldkirchen). The schnapps distillery belonging to the brewery was subsequently closed. From 1923 to the present day, renewals and extensions have been carried out again and again.

After the death of the owner Erika Lang in 2009, the inheritance passed to the city of Freyung, which kept the property but sold the brewery equipment on. After the owner at the time showed no interest in continuing the brewery in 2014, a cooperative was founded. The registration as a cooperative on April 30, 2014 concluded the conversion efforts.
