Longbold

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Langbold is a ball sport ( batball game ) from Denmark , similar to the German batterball .

Langbold is a sister game of Rundbold . Bold stands for ball, the first half of the name for the route to be run. Langbold has two goal lines (punch and run) that run parallel 60 paces apart. Their length is arbitrary. Rundbold has a square field with a side length of 20 meters with 4 points at the corners that must be rounded. For Rundbold there is a set of rules from the 1940s in which paragraphs 2 to 7 (out of a total of 9) refer to the corresponding Langbold rules. In this respect, the rules are mostly the same.

Before the First World War, Langbold was operated by a number of sports clubs alongside football and handball and was later ousted by them. There are no references to championships or an umbrella organization. One can only speculate about the current spread of the game. After all, sports retailers on the Internet offer two different types of batons: a club-shaped (like baseball or softball ) and a flat one (like cricket ).

Outside Denmark, the game has found its way into countries where related games such as softball or rounders are already popular: USA (New York State) and Great Britain (schools).
