The house at Lange Gasse 7

The house at Lange Gasse 7 (formerly house number 145) is a listed building in the core town of Iphofen in Lower Franconia .

history

The current building probably dates from the middle of the 16th century, but has not been dated . In the list of monuments, however, the property was classified in the early 18th century. The slender fire rams on the half-timbered upper storey, however, make the earlier dating more likely. It is located in one of the more important side streets of the old town and forms the transition between the elongated market square and the side streets in the south of the city.

The previous building of Haus Lange Gasse 7 was probably a gable-independent house, which was built over with a dwelling in its front part . The right part was later extended to the rear so that the characteristic shape of the building was created. The house was classified as a historical building by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments. Underground remains of previous buildings are listed as ground monuments . It is also part of the Iphofen Old Town ensemble .

description

The house has a special arrangement, which is probably due to the history of the building. A three-storey, eaves-standing residential building was built facing Langen Gasse . In the direction of the Breiter Gasse, only a two-story building was erected, which was built on the eaves in the direction of the Quergasse. It runs out in the left side of the house, whereby a single-storey dwelling was raised here.

The ground floor probably comes from the 19th century and was built massive. The half-timbered upper floors , on the other hand, are older and have been designed uniformly. They are structured by closely placed stands , which are also taken up in the mid-house. Only in the right part of the second floor does the former gable edge of the longitudinal building disturb the harmony, a sloping wood marks the transition. The facade on Langen Gasse was emphasized by the addition of fire rams with eyes and little handles. The parapet in Quergasse was filled with St. Andrew's crosses .
