Long row (Fürstenberg)
The Lange Reihe in Fürstenberg / Weser in Lower Saxony is a listed building complex that consists of six row houses . They were built in the middle of the 18th century for employees of the Fürstenberg porcelain factory . The buildings are an early example of industrial housing in Central Europe .
description
The building complex from 1754 dates back to the early days of the Fürstenberg porcelain factory. It has a length of 61 meters and a width of around 11 meters. The building is located in a north-south direction and the front facade points towards Fürstenberg Castle, which is around 500 meters away . The Alte Brennhaus and the Alte Mühle, the first facilities of the porcelain factory, are located near the Lange Reihe . While the two head buildings have two floors , the central buildings in between are single-story. On the back of the facade there are farm buildings in row construction. With its mansard roofs , the building complex gives the impression of being a castle. The houses were used by the manufactory's lathe operators, molders and porcelain painters as apartments. Based on the construction method, it can be assumed that well-known artists should be tied to the manufacturing company. The buildings are still used today as residential buildings. They are located on Von Langen-Reihe , which is named after the founder of the porcelain factory, Johann Georg von Langen .
meaning
The Lange Reihe , with the old distillery and the old mill, was the first operating facilities of the Fürstenberg porcelain factory. They represent a monument ensemble.
