Langenthal-Melchnau Railway

The Langenthal-Melchnau-Bahn , abbreviated LMB , is a former railway company in Switzerland , which was founded on April 21, 1913 in the Löwen inn in Melchnau , with its headquarters in Langenthal .

As of December 31, 1917, the share capital was 987,000 francs, divided into 1974 shares with a nominal value of 500 francs.

In 1958, the railway company merged with the Langenthal-Jura-Bahn , abbreviated LMB, to what was then Oberaargau-Jura-Bahnen , abbreviated OJB.

Langental – St. Urban-Melchnau

On October 6, 1917, the Langenthal-Melchnau-Bahn railway company opened the meter- gauge narrow - gauge railway line from Langenthal via Roggwil and St. Urban to Melchnau, which was electrically operated from the start in the cantons of Bern and Lucerne .

She was the owner of the Langenthal Gaswerk railway, where it branched off from the Langenthal – Aarwangen – Niederbipp – Oensingen railway, which was originally owned by the Langenthal-Jura-Bahn .

The management was from the beginning with the Langenthal-Jura-Bahn. She was responsible for the operational management and carried out the maintenance of the vehicle fleet of the Langenthal-Melchnau-Bahn in his workshop in Langenthal in addition to the maintenance of its own vehicle fleet.

Since 2012 only the Langenthal – Langenthal Gaswerk – St. Urban – St. Urban brick through the Today's transport companies of public transport mobile Aare Seeland , abbreviated ASM operated.

Vehicle fleet

The fleet of vehicles procured at the start of operations was coordinated with the fleet of vehicles in view of the operational management delegated to the Langenthal-Jura-Bahn. The vehicles corresponded to the same standards and could be freely used on the entire route network.
