The Langevin Block (French Édifice Langevin ) is a building in Ottawa's administrative district . It houses an office of the Prime Minister of Canada and the offices of the Canadian Privy Council . The entire facility has been classified as a National Historic Site since 1977 .
Location and description
The Langevin Block at 80 Wellington Street is on the corner of Elgin Street , with the narrow side facing Confederation Square . It takes up half the street block .
The building was designed by Thomas Fuller in the style of the Second Empire .
The building was named after Hector-Louis Langevin . The Liberal government under Justin Trudeau announced in 2017 that the building would be renamed the Office of the Prime Minister and Privy Council . The old name is still used by the Parliamentary Administration and Parks Canada .
