The Langfossen (also Langfoss) is a waterfall in the area of the municipality Etne in the province of Vestland in Norway. With a drop of 612 meters, it is one of the highest waterfalls on earth.
location
Langfossen is located directly on the E134 , with the water flowing under the road into the Åkrafjord . Depending on the amount of water and the direction of the wind, a spray of spray covers the road. There is a parking lot with a small kiosk right next to the waterfall. From this parking lot you can either get to the bank of the fjord or through a pedestrian tunnel to the waterfall across the street.
Hike to the top
Starting from the parking lot there is a hiking trail to the high plateau, from which the waterfall falls into the depths (through the pedestrian tunnel and then keep left). This hiking trail leads over partly very stony paths at an altitude of 622 meters. Good footwear is essential as the path overcomes some scree fields. The hiking trail is marked with a red "T". From the top you have a very nice view of the Åkrafjord and the Folgefonna glacier . You should plan at least five hours for the way up and back.
