Foreign assignment
A deployment abroad is called a task-related activity of an emergency organization ( armed forces , but also civil forces, such as the police or units of the disaster control and rescue service ) outside the own state. A distinction is made between aid in emergencies and disasters ( disaster relief ), humanitarian aid , search and rescue services , training purposes , as well as peacekeeping and peace enforcement . These deployments - because they are in principle sovereign tasks, even if they are performed by NGOs - are permissible under international law if they take place either bilaterally with the express approval or at the direct request of the foreign state to the sending state, or in the context of international deployments , which are legitimized by the United Nations (UN) .

National:
- Germany: Foreign deployments of the Bundeswehr , foreign deployments of the German police
- Austria: In Austria, the coordination committee (chaired by the Director General for Public Security ) is the central control center for state crisis and disaster control management and international disaster relief (SKKM). Since the competence is distributed partly to the federal government and partly to the federal states , the responsible federal ministries are represented there as well as state organizations. The central information point is the Operations and Crisis Coordination Center (EKC) with the now integrated Federal Warning Center (BWZ), which is located at the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI). Since 2003, this has also been in charge of all international civil defense operations. Since 1997, the legal basis for the foreign missions of all federal units has been the Federal Constitutional Act on Cooperation and Solidarity in the Posting of Units and Individuals Abroad (KSE-BVG). Special units are about:
- Federal Army : Armed Forces Command (SKFueKdo, tasks of the former Command International Operations ), Forces for International Operations (KIOP)
- Federal Police : Units within the UN police force
- Fire department : z. B. FuB readiness for special needs at the State Fire Brigade Association (Upper Austria)
- Switzerland: Swiss Army deployments abroad (peacekeeping only)
- UK: British Army missions and bases abroad
