Swissint (acronym for Swiss Armed Forces International Command) is the national superior command center for all peacebuilding missions abroad with the participation of the Swiss Army. Peacebuilding is one of the three army missions. Swissint is responsible for the planning and management, recruiting , support and control of all personnel, the deployment-related training of individuals and contingents, the equipment of the soldiers, the logistics in the deployment area, financial planning and credit management, the corresponding public relations and deployment evaluation.

With around 270 officers, NCOs, soldiers and civilians, Swissint is involved in 14 peacebuilding missions on four continents. On behalf of the United Nations (UN) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), military observers , staff and liaison officers are deployed as individuals or small teams. The SWISSCOY mission in Kosovo , which has been ongoing since 1999, is primarily associated with Swissint .

The SWISSINT competence center

The competence center is located on the Wil arms area in Oberdorf near Stans. Swissint reports directly to the Chief Operations Command and complies with the political guidelines of the Federal Council and Parliament as well as the instructions of the Chief of the Army .

education

The training center (AZ) is subordinate to the Swissint competence center . The AZ, which is also located at the Wil weapons site in Oberdorf near Stans, is responsible for the deployment-related training (EBA). All courses are set up according to the requirements and lessons learned from the assignments and continuously adapted. The range of courses is broad and is aimed at national and international as well as civil and military interested parties.

Swiss soldiers who are deployed in Peace Support Operations (PSO) receive their training from AZ Swissint . The NATO has the AZ Swissint as a Partnership for Peace Training and Education Center certified. It offers various national and international courses for civil and military participants. The military observer course (SUNMOC) is also certified by the UN. Among other things, the Wil arms field in Oberdorf bei Stans and the Swissint camp, which offers space for 180 people in around 200 containers, serve as the infrastructure.
