Langholm was a whiskey distillery near Langholm , Dumfries and Galloway , Scotland . Besides Glentarras, it was the second distillery near Langholm.

The distillery was founded in 1765 near Langholm on the banks of the Esk River, making it one of the oldest whiskey distilleries in the country. Apart from the fact that it changed hands several times, the history of the distillery was uneventful.

However, it was visited by Alfred Barnard as the penultimate distillery on the trip , so a detailed description of the installations is available. The distillery is built on a rock directly on the Esk and the buildings are said to have been almost in their original condition from 1765 at the time of the visit. Whiskey has been using three stills ( pot stills ) burned - a rough blister ( wash still ) for a volume of 1,800  gallons and two fine blisters ( spirit stills ) for volumes of 586 or 316 gallons. 46,000 gallons of a malt whiskey were produced annually, which was used to make blends as well as bottled. The main sales area was England . Allegedly, little birch whiskey was produced every year .
