Langsa is a city in Aceh , Indonesia . It has an area of ​​262,410 square kilometers and according to the 2000 census, a population of 117,256. It is about 650 kilometers from Banda Aceh , the capital of Aceh Province, and 320 kilometers from Medan , the capital of North Sumatra.

There are several universities in the city: Samuda Langsa, Stai Zawiya, and Campus LP3I. Also some schools for nursing and obstetrics. Academy of Nursing the "Harapan Ibu", the care "Yayasan Cut Nyak Dien" and the "Ummi".

climate

The Langsa area is a tropical region influenced by the monsoons , so there is a rainy and dry season every year. The rainy season is from September to February and the dry season from March to August. The population belongs to different ethnic groups : Achinese , Chinese , Malay , Batak and Javanese . Achinese is the main language, but Indonesian is the official language and is widely used in government, business, schools, universities and offices. The Malay language is also widely spoken.

As in the entire Aceh province, Islam is the most widely practiced religion in Langsa. In addition, Christians and Buddhists live in the city, whereby Buddhism is particularly widespread in the Chinese population. Although there is ethnic and religious diversity in the city of Langsa, the population tends to be tolerant.
