The French Sign Language , French Langue des signes française (LSF) is a natural sign language .
The LSF is the natural language of most deaf people in France . In French-speaking Switzerland , a regional dialect is spoken, the Langue des signes Suisse Romande (LSF-SR).
The LSF is also the mother of various other sign languages, including Austrian Sign Language and American Sign Language (ASL), since sign language was first properly promoted in France (see also History of Sign Languages and French Sign Languages ).
The Langue des signes belge ( Belgian sign language ) and the Langue des signes québécoise ( French-Canadian sign language ) differ from the LSF.
