List of sign languages
The list of sign languages performs in the countries or language areas of the earth mostly common sign languages , which in sign language families , as a historical sign languages and, as appropriate, as well as a selection of the best known contemporary sign languages planned languages or Pidgin are given. The list does not claim to be complete and does not take into account any regional sign language dialects .
Sign languages are the natural languages of the deaf .
Sign language families
Classification of the sign language families according to Henri Wittmann :
- British sign languages (including BSL , Auslan or NZSL )
- French sign languages (including DSGS , ÖGS or ASL )
- German sign languages (including DGS or PJM )
- Japanese Sign Languages (includes Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese sign languages such as Japanese Sign Language (JSL))
- Lyon sign languages ( Flemish as well as Franco-Belgian sign language)
- Isolated sign languages (e.g. Lengua de Signos Española )
