Lanhill
Lanhill is a 1909 excavated megalithic type Cotswold Severn Tomb . It is three miles west of Chippenham , south of the A420 in Wiltshire , England, and is often incorrectly referred to as Lanhill Long Barrow . Cotswold Severn Tombs lie on either side of the River Severn in England and Wales with the highest concentration in Gloucestershire, England .
The west-east oriented hill is disturbed and is about 56.0 m long and 27.0 m wide. There were originally three chambers in the hill. The north chamber was blocked by stone material and is completely intact. It lies in the middle of a facade and is relatively small and trapezoidal in shape. The chamber widens towards the end, the opposite of that of Five Wells . Three sides are formed by large limestone slabs , while the narrow front side is drawn in through the stone slabs of the facade.
Finds
In the trapezoid north chamber, an adult was lying in the front area of the chamber. Ten other bones were piled at the far end. The skulls and extremities of different individuals were carefully but incorrectly assembled. Peculiarities of the skeletal material indicated family relationships between several dead.
