Brigitte Riebe (born September 30, 1953 in Munich ) is a German writer . She used to work in crime novels occasionally under the pseudonym Lara Stern. She lives in Munich with her husband.

Life

After graduating from high school, Brigitte Riebe studied history, German literature and art history at the University of Munich . She did her doctorate with Friedrich Prinz with a doctoral thesis on the development of the bourgeois female model at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries (title: The woman according to the views of nature ). She then worked as a museum educator and later as a lecturer for well-known German publishers. In 1991 she gave up her job as a senior editor at Bertelsmann to become a writer. Since then, around 40 books have been written in various genres, which have now been translated into 14 languages.

In 1992, Riebe published her first crime novel Nix Dolci with Goldmann , in which she created the lawyer Sina Teufel as the protagonist, who has since appeared as the heroine in eight crime novels by the author.

In 1999 she published the eighth detective novel Liebeslang from the series of Sina-Teufel-Krimis, in which she said goodbye to her title character. One of her Sina Teufel novels was filmed for ProSieben in 1996 under the title Incest .

In addition to her detective novels, Brigitte Riebe has also published a number of modern social novels. However, she prefers the historical novel that is written alive. To do this, she undertakes extensive research at the locations of the plot. Her most important works include her novels about the legendary Way of St. James : "Street of the Stars" (2003), "The Seven Moons of St. James" (2004), "The Guardian of the Source" (2005), and "The Bride of Assisi" ( 2011), "The Plague Maiden" (2013) and "The Secret Bride" (2013).
