Larenbu and Jimensuo

Larenbu and Jimensuo (Chin. Larenbu yu Jimensuo ) is an epic of the Tu or Monguor nationality in the People's Republic of China .

description

It tells a tragic love story of a poor man, Larenbu, and a rich girl, Jimensuo. Larenbu is employed by Jimensuo's brother. They later fall in love with each other. They cannot marry, however, as Jimensuo's brother and wife are trying to tell them apart.

The whole poetry consists of eight sections in a form of singing and storytelling. It is one of the Tu's most popular love seals.

There are different versions in different areas.

The Tu Autonomous County version in northwest China's Qinghai Province is on the People's Republic of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage List I-29 (29).
