The Lars Christensen Peak ( English Lars Christensen Peak , Norwegian Lars Christensentoppen ) is at 1640 m the highest point on Peter I Island off the coast of Antarctica .
The summit is a shield volcano . Rocks ejected by him have been dated to an age of 100,000 to 350,000 years. The summit, hardly changed by erosion, with its 100-meter-wide crater gives rise to the assumption that parts of the volcano could only have formed since the Holocene .
Namesake is Lars Christensen , the ship owner of the SS Odd I , a whaler who sailed around the island in January 1927.
