Las Agnas ( [lɐsˈaɲɐs] ? / I , Rhaeto-Romanic in the idiom Puter for “the alders” and then, because they only grow on the valley floor near the Inn in the Upper Engadin , “the floodplain forest”) is a former settlement between Bever and La Punt . Audio file / audio sample

The place was right next to the Funtauna Merla , the old rock-shaped border marking of the two Upper Engadine judicial communities.

history

The tavern of the settlement served as a sust , place of military inspection and with its forecourt, above all, as a meeting place for the Upper Engadin rural community . It burned down in 1726, but was rebuilt and served as an entertainment venue. From 1816 on, the L'intimité parfaite , the first Masonic lodge in the canton of Graubünden , met here . At the beginning of the 20th century, the place was used again as a marketplace with a larger farm. In 1929 the buildings were demolished and the settlement dissolved.

Varia

The merged parish of Bever - La Punt Chamues-ch , which existed from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2016, bore the unified name of Las Agnas .
