Funtauna Merla
Funtauna Merla ( Rhaeto-Romanic in the idiom Puter for "Amselquelle" or "Amselbrunnen", pronunciation "Funtäma" [!] With an emphasis on the long ä) denotes a historical place in the form of a rock, first mentioned in 1283 between Bever and La Punt on the left side of the valley in the Upper Engadin in the canton of Graubünden . This marked the late medieval division of the region in 1438 into the judicial communities Sur Funtauna Merla (the higher one with Samedan as the main town, with the court seat in the Tuor ) and Suot Funtauna Merla (the lower one of the Plaiv with Zuoz as the center).
,In 1851 Graubünden received a modern court system with circles. Due to the creation of the Upper Engadin district , Funtauna Merla also became obsolete as a border town. When the Inn was canalized in 1856, the rock was blown up and used as material for bank reinforcement.
Until 1929 the settlement of Las Agnas still existed near the former rock formation .
