Last Window: The secret of Cape West , in Japan: Last Window: Mayonaka no Yakusoku ( Japanese ラ ス ト ウ ィ ン ド ウ 真 夜 中 の 約束 , Rasuto Windō: Mayonaka no Yakusoku , dt. "Last Window: Midnight Promise"), is a point and click adventure that was developed by the defunct development studio CING and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS .

It is the sequel to the game Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and was released in 2010. Last Window was not released in North America.

It is stylistically the same as its predecessor. The hero is again Kyle Hyde, who lives in the Cape West Apartments in Los Angeles in 1980. The story is completely independent, although it has some connections to the first part. The aim of the game is to solve a mystery surrounding the death of Kyle's father.

Game mechanics

Essentially, you have conversations with other characters and collect items that you then have to use meaningfully in the game. Last Window contains a question function, which makes it possible to interact with conversation partners individually. For each chapter that you solve in the game, a new chapter is unlocked in the book Last Window, which is integrated into the game . The content of the book complements the story of the game and is also influenced by the choices made by the player.

action

In Los Angeles in 1955, a burglar was seen being shot while gaining access to a safe. In 1967 a woman lies hunched over a table in a room in the Hotel Cape West - obviously dead. A man is seen leaving the room.

In 1980 Kyle Hyde has just lost his job and is traveling to the Cape West Apartments where he lives. Shortly before he enters the building, he notices an enigmatic woman in a hat and sunglasses. Immediately afterwards he learns that the Cape West apartments will be demolished at the end of the month and that all tenants will be evicted. When he opens his apartment door, he finds a letter asking him to find out what secret is hidden in the apartments and behind an object called the Scarlet Star . Allegedly, the Scarlet Star was hidden in the building 25 years ago. That is where the story begins.
