Latin American Studies Association

The Latin American Studies Association (LASA) is the largest academic society on Latin America with over 12,000 individual members . It was founded in 1966 and has been based at the University of Pittsburgh since 1986 . The members of the LASA come mainly from the USA and Latin America. The disciplines of history, literary studies and political science are most strongly represented among the members.

LASA publishes the scientific journal Latin American Research Review (LARR) , which was founded in 1965 and appears three times a year, and LASA Forum .
