Latin playboys

The Latin Playboys are an all-star band formed by David Hidalgo , Louie Pérez (from Los Lobos ), producer Mitchell Froom and sound engineer Tchad Blake. They were mostly active in the 1990s.

The band began their career with demo recordings that Hidalgo produced on an old tape deck. These demos were originally planned for Hidaldo's original band Los Lobos, but Froom thought the recordings would be interesting enough to start a new band. With the other Los Lobos member Pérez and Frooms production partner Blake, the Latin Playboys were complete.

The Latin Playboys released their first album in 1994 Latin Playboys , the box titled second album followed in 1999. The music critic Richie Unterberger described the music as "a twisted and avantgarde take on root music". The music of the Latin Playboys is very experimental. a. used as film music ( Desperado by Robert Rodriguez ).
