Lattoflex is the best-known brand of Thomas GmbH + Co. Sitz- und Liegemöbel KG , under which the company sells its mattresses and bed systems. The family company is part of the Thomas group of companies based in Bremervörde and employs around 180 people.

history

The company was founded in 1935 as Karl Thomas Möbelwerkstätten . The brand name Lattoflex goes back to the invention of the first slatted frame by the Swiss inventor Hugo Degen and the cabinet maker Karl Thomas, grandfather of the current managing director, in 1957. In contrast to the bed constructions with wire mesh and steel springs that were customary after the war, the two opted for one Construction made of several wooden slats, each of which was flexibly stored on the inside of the bed frame.

In the following years Lattoflex developed bed systems with individual adjustment options, but ultimately came up against the limits of the flexibility of the material. In 1996 Lattoflex then presented the Winx bed system, which completely dispenses with wood and only uses modern high-performance materials such as plastics reinforced with carbon or glass fibers ( KfK , GfK ) and the thermoplastic POM . These springs consist of a large number of elastic wings that can be moved in all directions and adapt to the body shape of the sleeper. The patented systems are sold today under the product names Lattoflex 200 and 300.
