Laura Bicāne (born June 18, 1990 in Daugavpils ) is a Latvian singer and songwriter.

Life

Laura Bicāne learned to play the accordion at the Špo voni Music School at the age of six, and later learned to play the guitar. Her first band was called "Alverna", in which she performed together with her two sisters. In 2007 the band took part in the festival of Latin music "Muzykys Skrytuls".

In 2012 Bicāne took part with Romāns Sladzis with the song "Freakin 'Out" in the national preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , but did not get beyond the semifinals. Her best known song is "Mīlesteiba" (2012). In 2013 her first CD, "Es tikai ļaujūs", came out. It was recorded in collaboration with the Latgallian pop-rock band "Dabasu Durovys". Bicāne represented Latvia together with the songwriter Kārlis Kazāks at the “Tai-aš” festival in Lithuania in 2013.

In 2015 Bicāne released her second CD, "Trīspuksti", with haikus . In 2017 she presented the CD "Lauzīsimies cauri pūlim". In the same year she graduated from Staņislava Broka Daugavpils Music High School as a guitarist.

Bicāne has twice been awarded the “Boņuks” cultural prize, which is given for successful work for Latgallian culture - for the debut in literature in 2010 and for the debut in music in 2012.
