Tarakaniw ( Ukrainian Тараканів ; Russian Тараканов Tarakanow , Polish Tarakanów ) is a village in the south of the Ukrainian Rivne Oblast with about 1,600 inhabitants (2001).

Close to that in the south of Volhynia located, 1583 village first written mentioned are the remains of built from 1873 to 1890 for 66 million rubles fortress Tarakaniw , ( Ukrainian форт Тараканівський even New Dubno fortress , ukr. Нову Дубенську фортецю ), during the Brusilov offensive was partially destroyed and then used in the Polish-Soviet war .

On October 21, 2016, the village became the center of the newly established rural community of Tarakaniv (Тараканівська сільська громада / Tarakaniwska silska hromada ). This also includes the villages of Ratschyn , Mali Sahirzi ( Малі Загірці , ⊙ ) with about 40 inhabitants and Welyki Sahirzi ( Великі Загірці , ⊙ ) with about 200 inhabitants. Until then, the village formed together with the villages of Mali Sahirzi and Welyki Sahirzi the district council of the same name .

The village is located on the M 06 / E 40 highway and on the banks of the Ikwa , a 155 km long tributary of the Styr , 5 km west of the Dubno district center and 50 km southwest of the Rivne Oblast center .
