The Growler Rock (also known as Roca Gruñón ) is a reef rock in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 1.5 km northwest of Lions Rump in the western part of King George Bay of King George Island .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations , who mapped it in 1937, named it after an English term for small ice floes that barely rise above sea level.
