Laurence Traiger
Laurence Traiger (born October 10, 1956 in New York ) is an American composer.
biography
At fourteen he took lessons in harmony, counterpoint and composition from the composer William Cosgriff and received a scholarship from the University of Kansas in 1974, where he studied composition with John Pozdro until 1976. That year Laurence Traiger moved his studies to the "Mozarteum" University in Salzburg. There he completed his studies with Cesar Bresgen in 1980 with a diploma. During this time he received grants from the Federal Ministry for Art and Research and from the Salzburg state government. From 1980 to 1982 Laurence Traiger studied at the Conservatoire National in Paris with Ivo Malec . In 1982 he became a student in Wilhelm Killmayer's master class at the University of Music in Munich.
His extensive catalog raisonné includes chamber music, choral music, orchestral music and film music as well as compositions for historical instruments and educational works.
Laurence Traiger received composition commissions from renowned ensembles and radio choirs. His works have been performed at international festivals and concert series.
In addition to the music publisher Christopher Varner, his works have been published by Doblinger Verlag, Bärenreiter Verlag, Ricordi Verlag and Edition Helbling.
Laurence Traiger is a lecturer at the Richard Strauss Conservatory or, since its integration into the University of Music and Theater Munich there and at the Mozarteum University .
