Laurent Hilaire

Laurent Hilaire (* 1962 ) is a French ballet dancer .

Hilaire began his ballet training in 1975 at the Paris Opera Ballet School . He joined the corps de ballet of the Paris Opera in 1979 and quickly climbed the higher ranks of the ballet hierarchy. On November 2, 1985, after a performance of Swan Lake , he was elevated to the rank of étoile by the ballet director at the time, Rudolf Nureyev .

Hilaire was known throughout his career as an excellent interpreter with brilliant technique. He has danced all roles in the classical and contemporary ballet repertoire, including the leading roles in Raymonda , La Bayadère , Romeo and Juliet , Swan Lake , Sleeping Beauty , Don Quixote , Petrushka , Le Parc and many others.

Hilaire has been ballet master at the Paris Opera since March 2005 .
