Lawrence I. Feinberg

Lawrence I. Feinberg ( August 25, 1942 in New York City - December 25, 2009 ) was an American papyrologist and owner of an extensive collection of manuscripts, coins, and other antiques.

He studied Greek, Latin, Egyptian and Semitic languages ​​and graduated in 1967 with a master's degree from Columbia University in New York. Since 1968 he has cataloged around 1000 papyri that the university had acquired in Egypt a short time before. Lawrence Feinberg built up an extensive collection over time. Parts of this collection have been auctioned since his death in 2009.
