Hospital (Kempten)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The former military hospital, at the same time the first seat of the Abbey-Kemptischen estates

The hospital is a listed building in the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) . It has the address Hohe Gasse 5 .

The building served as the first seat of the Stiftkemptischen provincial estates in front of the later country house at the Princely Residence . It was built in the late 17th century.

The gable-side building is three-story. There are two barrel vaults on the high ground floor. The staircase has round wooden balusters for at least 1959 . On the flat ceiling of the corridor on the first floor, stuccoed circles and four-passages alternate over profiled geism . They were created around 1680 and serve as a frame for heavily damaged frescoes. Two of them are concealed under plaster, in the others Venus, Jupiter and Mercury can be seen with the planetary signs. The art historian and monument curator Michael Petzet points out that these representations should be "unique in the monastery secular building of the time" .
