The Lazarev Trough ( Russian Жёлоб Лазарева Scholob Lasarewa ) is a deep sea channel off the Clarie coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland .

The channel is named at the suggestion of the geologist Galina Agapova from the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . The namesake of the name recognized by the Advisory Committee for Undersea Features since August 1985 is Mikhail Petrowitsch Lasarew (1788-1851), commander of the frigate Mirny during the first Russian Antarctic expedition (1819-1821) under the direction of Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen .
