Le Café du Commerce

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Le Café du Commerce is the name of a well-known restaurant - brasserie on Rue du Commerce in the 15th arrondissement of Paris .

The restaurant extends over three floors of a former women's fashion store. In 1921 the building was converted into a restaurant called Mille couverts , which offered a standard menu and was mainly frequented by workers from the emerging automotive industry. During the German occupation of Paris in World War II , the eatery remained affordable despite adverse circumstances and soon became a true Parisian institution. The restaurant has had its current name since 1988 and has been run by Marie and Étienne Guerraud as a family business since 2003.
