Le Carreau - Scène nationale de Forbach et de l'Est mosellan is a theater in the French town of Forbach , near the border , in the Moselle department , Grand Est .

The theater was founded in 1996 as the national stage ( Scène nationale ). The aim of the approximately 70 national theaters in France is decentralized and cross-disciplinary cultural work and the promotion of stage arts in the region.

The program includes plays, performances, dance, figure / object theater, concerts and theater workshops. There are theater festivals and school projects.

In 2013 the large hall was dedicated to Bertolt Brecht and the small hall to Heiner Müller in order to emphasize the cross-border dimension of the national stage.

In 2019, multi-year renovations began on the building erected in 1984.

Halls

  • La Salle "Bertolt Brecht": large hall for 662 spectators, 25 meters stage opening and 18 meters high
  • La Salle "Heiner Müller": small hall for 120 spectators
