The Bellheim Cemetery is on the one hand a forest cemetery of the local community Bellheim , which is located on the state road (L 540) between Bellheim and Zeiskam , on the other hand another cemetery in the village.

Forest cemetery

After long planning, the Bellheim community opened its forest cemetery on July 14, 2010. In the first section, 50 trees were designated for forest burial. In 2014 another 50 trees were designated.

The Bellheim Forest Cemetery is located on the Landstrasse (L 540) between Bellheim and Zeiskam and covers a total of around three hectares . The area remains part of the natural forest and is freely accessible to everyone. In the forest cemetery, the ashes of the deceased are buried in a biodegradable urn in the root area of ​​a tree.

Bellheim Cemetery

According to tradition, the local cemetery was established by the churches in 1582. The facility has been owned by the municipality since 1686. Since then the cemetery has been expanded several times. During the last major expansion in 1992, three new grave fields with 220 grave sites were created. In total, the cemetery covers an area of ​​1.9 hectares, on which there are around 1,700 grave sites. As an alternative to the urn burial sites, four urn steles with four urn chambers each were built in 2009 . The facility currently consists of 24 steles. The cemetery is surrounded by farmland, individual houses, the Bellheim construction yard and the grounds of the Park & ​​Bellheimer brewery .
