Le Verrier is a small impact crater in the northern part of the Mare Imbrium . To the west lies the Helicon crater and, further in a west-northwest direction, the bay of the Sinus Iridum, which is surrounded by mountains .

The bowl-shaped Le Verrier has a circular edge. There are traces of slippage along the upper edge of the inner walls. The inner wall and crater floor are more irregularly shaped on the southeast side than in the rest of the crater.
