Leakey is an impact crater on the front of the moon west of Mare Fecunditatis , northeast of Capella crater and northwest of Gutenberg . The small crater is little eroded and shows traces of a concentric slide inside.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1976 after the British paleoanthropologist Louis Leakey .
