Lebensart - magazine for sustainable lifestyle (own spelling LEBENSART) is an Austrian magazine that was founded in 2005 and has been published seven times a year since then. It reports from a sustainable / CSR- positive perspective in the areas of environment and climate, energy and mobility, building and living, agriculture and gardening, health and nutrition, travel and culture, economy and work, as well as social and society. Thematic special issues appear at irregular intervals.

sustainability

In 2013, Lebensart Verlag published a sustainability report for the period 2010–2012 in accordance with GRI 4 guidelines for the first time and was awarded the Austrian Sustainability Reporting Award (ASRA) for this.

Since the company was founded, the Lebensart magazine has been printed on fsc or pefc-certified paper and since 2011 by the Lower Austrian Press House (UW no. 808) according to the criteria of the Austrian eco-label . The paper thickness was reduced in 2007 (19% less paper consumption), and the magazine has also been available as an e-paper since October 2012. Since 2012, sales have been approximately half CO 2 -compensated.

The bio -film used since 2007 for unavoidable packaging was replaced by PE-film from mid-2012 until further notice , because according to the publisher no bio-film was available and the PE-film leaves the smallest CO 2 footprint of the available shipping bags (study carried out by Denkstatt Austria). An earlier study by Roland Hischier ( EMPA Institute St. Gallen ) came to a similar result .

The publisher relies on specially created advertising guidelines in the selection of advertisements: "[The publisher] reserves the right to reject advertisements whose content contradicts the aim of promoting an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable lifestyle." The publisher is responsible for assessing these criteria itself and is based on quality seals such as organic seals , environmental labels and Fairtrade labels .

The lifestyle conducts reader surveys every three years (most recently winter 2014/15).

Since 2009, the Lebensart Verlag has carried out an annual “Choice of Sustainable Designers in Austria”. This was published in the magazine Lebensart until 2011, since then in the magazine Businessart and online.
