Lectio difficilior is an electronic specialist journal for feminist exegesis .

It has been published twice a year since 2000 and is published by the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Bern . The contributions appear in German, English or French and are freely accessible on the Internet for free. In addition to specialist articles on feminist exegesis, hermeneutics and related research areas such as archeology , classical philology and art history , the individual editions contain references to new literature (but not reviews ) and occasional forum contributions that may be replicas of previously published articles or reports on work in progress . The magazine sees itself as interdisciplinary and non-denominational. It is edited by the Catholic theologian Silvia Schroer (Bern) and the Judaist Tal Ilan (Berlin).

The title was chosen based on the principle of lectio difficilior , which is common in textual criticism, according to which the more difficult reading is to be given preference in the case of several existing text witnesses.
