Lee Seung-chul (born December 5, 1966 in Seoul , South Korea ) is a South Korean singer. Until 1989 he was the lead singer of the rock group Boohwal. Since then, Lee has released numerous solo albums. In 2005 he received a Korean Music Award for Best Singer .

Lee is also known for his song " Girls 'Generation " ( kor. 소녀 시대 , Sonyeo Sidae ) from 1989. The group Girls' Generation , founded in 2007, named themselves after the song and released a cover version in the same year . Lee also had a few live performances with the group.
