Leena Parkkinen
Leena Parkkinen (* 1979 ) is a Finnish writer .
Life
Leena Parkkinen is the daughter of the writer Jukka Parkkinen . She studied screenwriting and advertising at the Art Academy of Turku and then design at the Critical Academy in Helsinki . She herself worked as a waitress, in advertising, freelance writer and in a publishing house before making her debut as a writer in 2009 with the novel Sinun jälkeesi, Max . In the same year she was awarded the Helsingin-Sanomat Literature Prize for the best debut. In 2011, Miss Milky Ray was followed by her first children's book.
Her first two books were translated into eight languages, including German. After her second novel was published in 2013, the book rights were sold to Germany within a week. In the same year Parkkinen was awarded the Kalevi Jäntti Prize.
