Teachers conference

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term teachers' conference is used in the school system with two meanings:

On the one hand, it describes all types of conferences in schools in which (predominantly) teachers advise on issues relating to teaching or upbringing. In this reading, it is therefore a generic term which, in addition to the overall conference, also means the various sub-conferences (e.g. specialist conferences, class conferences ).

On the other hand, the meaning of the word is used much more narrowly in some federal states and then describes as a technical term exclusively an institution that consists of all teachers teaching at a school and (depending on the state and type of school) elected representatives from the student body and parents. The term teachers' conference is used in Bavaria, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia. In Baden-Wuerttemberg and Saxony, this facility is known as the general teachers' conference; Brandenburg uses the term conference of teachers . The term general conference is most widely used (Berlin, Bremen, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt).
