Athlete of the year

The election for athlete of the year takes place in many countries, with the winners being chosen in different ways, mostly by a specialist jury or by general public vote.

This award and other special awards are presented by the IAAF on an international level .

National honors

• The elections for athlete of the year are carried out by the DLV .
• The elections for the Swiss Athletes of the Year are carried out by the Swiss Athletics Association (Swiss Athletics).

International honors

• Europe's athlete of the year
• World athlete of the year
