Europe's athlete of the year
The choice of European athletes of the year is the European Athletics Association (EAA) performed.
history
It took place for the first time in 1993 in the men and women categories. Since 2007, the newcomers of the year have also been recognized for the U23 area. The winners are chosen by fans, media representatives, member associations and a panel of experts, each with 25 percent weight of the vote.
The three jumpers Jonathan Edwards and Christian Olsson , the javelin thrower Jan Železný , the heptathlete Carolina Klüft , the pole vaulter Jelena Issinbajewa , the high jumper Blanka Vlašić , the long-distance runner Mo Farah and the sprinter Dafne Schippers received two awards.
