Marija Alexandrovna Lassizkene , b. Kutschina ( Russian Мари́я Алекса́ндровна Ласицкене [Кучина] ; born January 14, 1993 in Prochladny ) is a Russian athlete who specializes in high jump . She won a gold medal each at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games , the World Athletics Championships in 2015 , 2017 and 2019, and the 2018 European Championships .

Athletic career

Kutschina won her first international medal at the World Youth Championships in 2009 , where she jumped her personal best of 1.85 m and was second behind the Italian Alessia Trost . She also won a silver medal at the 2009 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF).

At the 2011 European Indoor Championships she was ninth.

At the Moravia High Jump Tour on January 26, 2011 in Třinec , Czech Republic , she jumped 1.97 m and thus surpassed Desislawa Alexandrowa's earlier indoor youth world record in 1994.

At the European Championships in Zurich in 2014 , Kutschina won the silver medal. 2015, she was in Beijing with the personal best of 2.01 m world champion . Compared to two competitors at the same height, she had the fewest failed attempts.

After the Russian Athletics Federation was banned from international competitions, Kuchina did not contest an official competition in 2016.

Since 2017 she has been competing under a neutral flag and under her new married name Lasitskene (English transcription of the Russian spelling). On July 6, 2017, she set a new record in Lausanne with a skipped 2.06 m and on August 12, 2017, she defended her world title in London.

At the European Championships in Berlin in 2018 , she won the gold medal with a jumped height of 2.00 m.

She won 45 competitions in a row, the series began on July 1, 2016 in Smolensk and ended on July 13, 2018 at the Diamond League meeting in Rabat .

She won her third world title in a row with a jumped height of 2.04 m at the 2019 World Championships in Doha . She was the first woman to achieve three gold medals in the high jump.

In addition, she has won the Diamond League four times (2014, 2017, 2018, 2019).

Personal

On March 17, 2017, in Nalchik, Kuchina married the Russian sports reporter Wladas Lassizkas, an ethnic Lithuanian ( Lithuanian Vladas Lasickas ), and took his name ( Lithuanian Lasickienė ).

She is an officer in the Russian Armed Forces and has been a first lieutenant since September 21, 2017 .
