Leif Trenkler

Leif Trenkler (* 1960 in Wiesbaden ) is a German painter.

Life

Trenkler attended the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main from 1984 to 1986 , where he returned in 1988 after a year-long visit to the Düsseldorf Art Academy , where he studied with Thomas Bayrle and [Jörg Immendorff] until 1990 . From 1990 to 1991 he received a foreign scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation for Italy. He lives in Cologne .

Trenkler is one of the representatives of the New Figuration in Germany and helped shape this direction in contemporary painting. He orients himself in his pictures to predecessors in the history of art of all epochs and despite this adaptation has developed his own painting style. Most of his pictures are created on a wooden base.

In his works, Trenkler deals with childhood memories, street and nature views, everyday or party scenes, with people in the center of the action in almost all of his pictures.
