The glue box

The so-called glue box is a listed half-timbered house in Wengern , a district of Wetter (Ruhr) in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located on the Elbsche in the center of the village, right next to the Wengern village church and has been used as a restaurant since the 20th century .

history

The building, erected from 1541, has inscriptions in German, Hebrew, Latin and Greek. Hence it is believed that it used to belong to the village church. The house was given the name glue box from the Leimkasten student association that met there before 1914.

The second oldest house in Wengern was placed under monument protection in 1954. Since 1984 it has been registered as architectural monument no.82 in the monument list of Wetter .
