Traffic control systems clarify the traffic routing

Traffic control devices are part of the road equipment and make the traffic management clear to the road user. The function of the traffic control system must be guaranteed especially in poor visibility (fog, snow, darkness). They prevent road users from straying from the lane or getting into oncoming traffic .

The term should not be confused with the traffic control system . These are measures and devices for the control of vehicle flows in the road network .

Guiding elements

Traffic control systems are:

Mobile facilities

Fire truck with variable guidance system

Mobile guidance systems are often used to temporarily set up obstacles or construction sites. These can, for example, be mounted on trailers and parked at the required location. Guidance devices are also mounted on snow plow vehicles to indicate to the vehicles following whether and on which side the snow plow can be overtaken. Control systems can also be installed on police or fire service vehicles, which are mainly used in traffic accidents.

These facilities can range from simple flashing lights to displays with scrolling text .
