Editing cooperation

Lektoratskooperation describes the cooperation between the German Library Association , the professional association information library and the ekz.bibliotheksservice GmbH . This cooperation has existed since 1976. The main task of the Lektoratskooperation is to support public libraries in Germany in building up their collections. For this purpose, the new publications from the book and media offer, such as books, CD-ROMs, non-book media, etc., are viewed.

The ekz owns u. a. its own editing department, in which the entire market review of beautiful literature and children's and youth literature is taken over. As part of the editing cooperation, the other media are viewed and sent to the appropriate editors and reviewers. Before publication in the editing services, the texts sent by the editors and / reviewers are processed by ekz.

Professional Association Information Library eV (BIB)

The professional association Information Bibliothek eV mediates in coordination with the ekz reviewers for certain subject areas. He currently looks after around 230 reviewers.

German Library Association (DBV)

The DBV is currently with about 76 Lektorien involved from 56 libraries and library institutions in the Lektoratskooperation. If a public library is involved in the editing cooperation, one or more librarians will work as editors. This includes viewing the book market for a specific subject area in consultation with the ekz editing department. On the one hand, the editors report titles to ekz and, on the other hand, they write assessments for titles sent by ekz.

  1. The editors select titles based on advertisements and documents from the German National Library .
  2. Review pieces are requested from publishers via ekz .
  3. The review pieces are distributed to the appropriate editors and reviewers.
  4. Ekz takes on the cataloging, systematisation and dispatch of the review items.
  5. The editors and reviewers compose reviews and send them to ekz.
  6. The texts are revised by the ekz editing department before publication.
  7. Ekz publishes the texts in the editing services.
