Lelantos is a funeral doom and gothic metal band founded in 2016 .

history

Bruno Braga, who lives in Pelotas, Brazil , founded Lelantos in 2016 as a solo project. With the band name, Braga refers to the aerial titan of the same name in Greek mythology . In terms of content, he deals with Lelantos with epistemology and philosophy . In the founding year, the debut Akrasia was released on a conglomerate of different international labels, including The Metalvox Record & Distro , Nuktemeron Productions , Eclipsys Lunarys Productions and Loneravn Records . The term akrasia is also borrowed from philosophy.

The album received changeable criticism. For Doom-Metal.com , Akrasia was rated by Chris Hawkins as ambitious, but behind its possibilities, and the result as mediocre. In reviews of South American webzines, however, the album was consistently praised. In a review written for Funeral Wedding, the album was praised for its atmospheric melancholy sound. For Roadie Crew, Akrasia was even attested to have a majestic atmosphere, a description that was also used in a review for Lucifer Rising. In the review for Attitide23, Franci described the music as "excellent Doom full of atmosphere, with lyrics that convey philosophy, existentialism and a gigantic depression". "A work of art for the desolate" praised Fábio José Akrasia for Chama do Metal.

style

According to Doom-Metal.com, Lelantos belongs to the "gentler and more atmospheric end of Funeral Doom". For a classifying comparison, the webzine points to Sadael . Chris Hawkins also refers to The Gathering , Anathema and Paradise Lost , and thus makes a reference to Gothic Metal .

The music uses a permanent use of the keyboard that serves as the basis for the music. The keyboard arrangements are described with adjectives ranging from “delicate” to “beautiful” to “cold”. A “heavy” and “abysmal” weight is attested to the riff-heavy guitar playing. The music is complemented by the combination of guttural growling and ethereal female singing.
